Fade image edges for subtitles and text.
Create a gradual blur from one edge or all four edges while keeping the center clear. Adjust fade depth, blur strength and softness, then switch between a clean Smooth fade and a gently irregular Organic fade for a more natural paper-wash look.
Bottom is the default. Increase Fade depth to make more room for text. Organic gently breaks the straight gradient so the transition feels less synthetic; Smooth keeps a clean, even fade.
Preview feature. The fade is a visual editing effect, not a privacy-redaction tool. Review the full-resolution export before placing subtitles or important text over the faded area.
Create a stronger subtitle-safe fade without drawing a hard blur box.
Start with Subtitle Strong when a busy bottom edge needs enough separation for captions, use Subtitle Soft for a lighter treatment, or choose Paper Wash for a softer organic transition. The v2 effect can combine blur, reduced contrast and a dark or light wash while Fade depth controls how far the transition reaches into the image.
This tool is available for hands-on testing before it moves into the live Image Tools catalog. Source images still stay in the browser for the supported workflow.
